What do you love about your job? / What do you love about the Sheridan YMCA?
What I love most about my job is the incredible people I get to connect with every day! Whether it’s a friendly face stopping by my office or a warm smile in the hallway, our members and staff bring such positivity and energy that can instantly brighten even the most stressful moments. The Sheridan YMCA is special because of its amazing community. Our members are passionate, dedicated, and kind individuals who truly love and respect this town—and it’s a privilege to serve alongside them.

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not working?
When I’m not at work, I cherish spending quality time with my family and friends. We love going on adventures together—whether it’s hiking, traveling to sports tournaments, taking family trips, or simply enjoying time with loved ones in town. My faith is a big part of who I am, and I love Jesus. Praying brings me peace and joy, and it’s something I treasure deeply. Last but not least, staying active is important to me too! I enjoy running, exercising, and, of course, playing/coaching a little basketball whenever I get the chance.

What I love about the Sheridan YMCA: In my role in Human Resources, I have the privilege of working with an amazing staff that is fully committed to serving the community of Sheridan with their whole hearts. I grew up at the Sheridan YMCA, and it has been wonderful to see it expand and offer programs and services to every demographic in the city. I personally love the different classes offered and have tried most of them! Our Aquatics Center can’t be beat, and our camps are fun and inclusive. I’m very proud of our work here!

When I’m not working: My most passionate hobby is photography, which drives me to travel and spend as much time outdoors as the weather allows – I love to hike, camp, and tag along on hunting trips to take photos. I am also pursuing a yoga teaching certification! I love Jesus, music, dancing, reading and spending time with my awesome boyfriend, Josh, and amazing teenage daughter, Stella. I can turn anything into an adventure and try to do that as much as possible!

Title: Membership Director

Started working at the Y in 1994

What I love about the Sheridan YMCA: I grew up in the 60’s being an active kid at the Sheridan County YMCA – that is when my “real” relationship with the Y began.

What do you call an old dog learning new tricks? ME!  I feel blessed to have spent time in almost every area of the Y – currently in Member Service.  It is very humbling to watch youth that I’ve been fortunate to share time at the Y with begin their careers and see their families relationships with the Y develop and grow.  Having connections that date well over 30 years is a true privilege and fills me with a lifetime of memories. Every day something I do or see reminds me that I am part of something wonderful.

When I’m not working: Being a grandmother of 8 and a great-grandmother of 1 keeps me busy.  There’s lots of family time playing games/cards, camping, riding four-wheelers, sporting events and just hanging out. My daughter and her family have lived in Australia for over 20 years.  I enjoy yearly visits  and spending as much time as possible with them.

What I love about the Sheridan YMCA: I love being able to watch a lot of “firsts!”  When a child scores a goal in soccer, makes a shot in basketball, or catches a baseball for the first time, the happiness and feeling of pride is sometimes overwhelming. I am very blessed to have this opportunity at the Y that allows me to be close to my own children, whether it be in the daycare or the after school program. Additionally, the members and co-workers make the Sheridan YMCA a wonderful place to work

When I’m not working: I love spending time with my family playing games and watching movies, and being out and about….exploring Sheridan, the surrounding areas, and more.  I have a love for sports, especially baseball, cooking, fishing, camping, and the beautiful Big Horn mountains.  Really, anything that has to do with pine trees is right up my alley!

What I Love About Sheridan YMCA:
Brene Brown once said, ” In the absence of love and belonging, there will always be suffering.” What I appreciate about the Y is that no matter what’s happening in the world, it’s always a welcoming and safe place. No matter what challenges you face, you have a place where you are loved and where you belong.

About Tatum

Title: Afterschool & Day Camp Director

Started working at the Y in 2024

What I Love About Sheridan YMCA: The sense of community at the YMCA is something I truly value. It’s not just about the kids, but also about fostering strong relationships with families. It’s incredibly rewarding to see the positive impact our programs have on their lives. Day Camp is a great place for kids to explore new activities and develop skills they might not have the chance or desire to try elsewhere. I also take great pride in helping young staff members hone their skills, whether it’s learning how to manage a group of kids, resolving conflicts, or fostering a positive team environment. It’s inspiring to see them evolve and gain confidence in their abilities, and I love being part of that process. I love knowing we’re creating an environment where everyone has the chance to learn, grow, and thrive.

When I’m not working: I am exploring the mountains with my family! I grew up on a cotton farm in Arizona so the big, beautiful, green pines are something I will never be sick of seeing. Rodeo, ranching, and farming runs in my blood and is a major passion of mine. Because of that, you can find me petting all the furry 4 legged animals, riding any horse I can jump on, or chasing cows whenever the opportunity arises
