YMCA Youth Sports teach kids the fundamentals, good sportsmanship, and teamwork, as well as give them the opportunity to gain confidence that comes from playing on a team. Youth sports at the Sheridan County Y are about building the whole child from the inside out.
Grades K-1
Late Winter Season
The Rimbusters program is an instructional based program focused on teaching kids the fundamentals of the game, sportsmanship, team play and most importantly having fun.
Grades 2/3 – Y, Grades 4/5 – Rec District
Early Fall Season
This comprehensive basketball program teaches kids about the fundamentals of the game while they have fun, learn teamwork and experience a positive atmosphere. Grades 4/5 are ran through the Rec District.
Grade 6
Winter Season
This is a great opportunity to gain experience and build on your skills if you plan to play in 7th grade. Teams will compete against other schools like Holy Name, Tongue River and Big Horn.

The work that is done by volunteers generates a tremendous spirit in the Y. Youth Sport volunteers may include coaching, assistant coaching or perhaps contributing time marking fields, refereeing or monitoring games.

Itty Bitty Basketball
Ages 4-5 years old (pre-kindergarten)

Young children will learn the fundamental skills of basketball as they practice shooting, passing and dribbling. The environment will be positive and interactive with some participation from parents.
Itty Bitty T-Ball
Ages 4-5 years old (pre-kindergarten)
Spring Season
Young children will learn fundamental skills, rules and how to interact socially with others in this sport. Every inning, each player bats or plays in the field. Sitting on the bench is one position that no one plays in YMCA T-Ball!
Itty Bitty Soccer
Ages 4-5 years old (pre-kindergarten)
Summer Season
Kids will learn techniques that will grow their knowledge of soccer and begin to develop a few skills for the sport. Coaches will conduct fun practices and games throughout the duration of the season.

The world’s largest sport is at the Y and is ready for the fun. Our Soccer program will include kids playing as a team, passing back and forth, and assisting while someone takes the big shot and scores. That’s Soccer at the Y!

*Rimbusters (2024):
Rimbusters is an introductory basketball program available to all Kindergarten and first graders that is brought to you by the Sheridan YMCA and Sheridan Recreation District. Players will learn the fundamentals of passing, dribbling, shooting, sportsmanship, and teamwork!

*Itty Bitty Basketball (2024):
Itty Bitty Basketball focuses on developing large motor skills in our young players. In a positive atmosphere, the youth will get plenty of hands-on experience including handling of the ball, dribbling, passing, and shooting the ball! This is a fun, learning environment and parent participation is greatly encouraged.
